About
Twenty-five years behind a camera and fifteen teaching other people to use one, from a base in Coventry.
Approach
Photography came second. The first twenty years were spent in corporate change management, at board level, before turning to the camera full time in 2013. That background still shows in how the work runs: a brief is a brief, a deadline is a deadline, and a client wants an outcome rather than an explanation.
The teaching sits on one idea. Settings are maybe a fifth of a photograph. The rest is light, timing and composition, and none of those are in the menu system. Courses run as small evening classes in Coventry, as private one-to-one sessions face to face or over Zoom, and as landscape workshops from Warwickshire out to the Lakes, Wales, Northumberland and the south coast.
Alongside the teaching there is commercial work for over two hundred clients, among them Screwfix, JLR and the BBC: product and e-commerce imaging, property, corporate headshots and staff training. Fine art prints from the landscape work are available unframed, canvas-wrapped or framed.
Qualified ABIPP with the British Institute of Professional Photography and ARPS with the Royal Photographic Society, plus DPAGB, EFIAP and a BPE five-star crown. Seven Landscape Photographer of the Year awards between 2013 and 2022, and International Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2017. The work has appeared on the BBC One Show and Countryfile, in the Daily Mail, and in RPS Portfolio II.
